14 Feb 2018 WATER SECTOR
The Bandar Lampung Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) project is intended to increase the supply of clean water for the city of Bandar Lampung, where the existing facilities are no longer adequate to keep up with the increasing demand. The existence of this project is expected to ensure the availability of clean, processed water of good quality and suitable for consumption for the community. Through this project, it is hoped that the coverage of drinking water pipe connections will be expanded to serve 44,000 new connections for the city of Bandar Lampung with a total population of 220,000 people. Likewise, the benefits of improving the health and sanitation conditions of the community environment have an impact on the productivity of the community.
The Bandar Lampung SPAM project increases the supply capacity of 750 liters / second of clean water and is structured as a Built-Operate-Transfer project with a concession period of 27 years. The Bandar Lampung SPAM project is also the first public infrastructure development project to be supported by a Financial Support (DK) facility from the Government (Ministry of Finance).
This project is designed to obtain a guarantee from PT PII to assist investors in the process of obtaining financial support from banks so as to reduce the cost of capital to fund this project. The project schedule experienced several delays due to the issuance of the necessary regulations as well as the transition period from the top position in the finance ministry.
