IIGF COLLABORATES WITH THE GOVERNMENT OF NGAWI DISTRICT IN INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT THROUGH THE KPDBU SCHEME

14 FEBRUARY 2023

Indonesia Infrastructure Guarantee Fund / IIGF  together with the Government of Ngawi Regency carried out a Joint Agreement event regarding infrastructure development collaboration through alternative funding through the Regional Government Cooperation with Business Entities (KPDBU) scheme in Surakarta City on Tuesday (14/2).

In addition to signing the Joint Agreement, IIGF and the Ngawi Regency Government also carried out a Capacity Building program related to infrastructure development through the KPDBU scheme which provides an overview of increasing the understanding of the Ngawi Regency Government as a potential GCA regarding the implementation of the KPDBU scheme as well as an overview of KPDBU projects that have been running previously in several sectors.

Main Director of IIGF, M. Wahid Sutopo conveyed at this activity that apart from financing, the provision of infrastructure in Indonesia is also faced with other technical problems, namely infrastructure development in Indonesia which is currently not fully integrated with regional development. In this case IIGF really appreciates the Ngawi Regency Government as a driver of integrated infrastructure development based on regional development approaches both funded by APBD and Non-APBD including KPDBU by exploring issues that hinder infrastructure development as joint learning and mapping out management strategies in stages and implementing them as mitigation in future programs and planning as well as identifying the most appropriate schemes early on, especially in planning various projects in Ngawi District.

"In line with the focus of the Ngawi Regional Government in supporting sustainable infrastructure development in the region, this collaboration is expected to be a strategic step for IIGF in efforts to strengthen the infrastructure development ecosystem through the KPDBU scheme, especially in the development of guarantee pipelines and also as a form of IIGF's commitment as one of the Special Missions Vehicles (SMV) Ministry of Finance in order to disseminate understanding and knowledge regarding the KPDBU financing scheme and also government guarantees to the Government of Ngawi Regency," said Sutopo.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Ngawi Ony Anwar Harsono said that his party greatly appreciated the implementation of the Agreement with the Regional Government and Business Entities as well as carrying out Capacity Building related to the KPDBU scheme, as a form of commitment to synergize in increasing the capacity of the Ngawi District Government and IIGF through the exchange of information and experiences as well as infrastructure development in Ngawi Regency by implementing the KPDBU scheme.

"We hope that this Joint Agreement can continue until the implementation stage, so that Ngawi Regency can become another pilot area capable of implementing infrastructure development with innovative financing schemes at the district scale," said Ony.
