In the current situation, the availability of infrastructure, especially those related to health, drinking water and sanitation, is expected to contribute to overcoming the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, apart from being an effort to restore the national economy.

On Thursday (29/04), PT PII carried out a ceremonial signing of an agreement related to government guarantees for projects with the Unsolicited Public Private Partnership (PPP) scheme in the Drinking Water sector, namely the Karian - Serpong Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM) in the Auditorium. Ministry of PUPR. This signing was carried out by PT PII as an Infrastructure Guarantee Business Entity (BUPI) with the executor of PT Karian Water Services which was formed by the auction winners, namely the K-Water consortium and PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk as the Implementing Business Entity (BUP) in the Guarantee Agreement related to the Project. . Then it was continued on Friday (30/04) regarding the Regress Agreement between PT PII and the Ministry of PUPR as the Person in Charge for Cooperation Projects (PJPK).

The Karian-Serpong Regional SPAM project is a SPAM construction and operation project with a capacity of 4,600 liters / second implemented under the PPP scheme for a cooperation period of up to 30 years after the Commercial Operation Date (“COD”) which will supply needs in the DKI Jakarta area, Tangerang City. , and the City of South Tangerang. This project is an inter-provincial PPP SPAM project which is estimated to be able to serve ± 539,000 House Connections (SR) in the DKI Jakarta and Banten Provinces.

The additional economic benefits that are expected to be generated by the project are divided into two components, namely direct benefits from the project, namely increasing the coverage of clean water in the city of Jakarta to 3,600 liters per second, Kota Tangerang by 750 lpd, and City of Tangerang Selatan by 650 lpd, reducing dependence on use of groundwater and prevent land subsidence, as well as creating employment opportunities through. Then for indirect benefits, namely health benefits, is the impact of improving the quality of water received by customers, such as a reduction in morbidity / mortality from diseases caused by poor water quality.

Minister of PUPR, Basuki Hadimuljono, in his speech said that this project was a form of the Ministry of Public Works' commitment to encourage the PPP financing innovation scheme in the SPAM sector with the support of various parties, especially the Ministry of Finance and the Government Guarantee for this project through PT PII.

The Minister of Finance, represented by the Director General of Financing and Risk Management of the Ministry of Finance, Luky Alfirman in his remarks stated that the SPAM project has always been a priority for the Government to improve access to clean water and drinking water for the community. For this reason, this project needs to be supported by PDAM in ensuring the distribution of drinking water distribution to the community so that the construction of the Karian - Serpong SPAM can run on time and also pay attention to environmental, social and gender equality aspects.
