As a form of social responsibility to the community and concern for the environment, PT Penjaminan Infrastruktur Indonesia (Persero)/PT PII – one of the Special Mission Vehicles (SMV) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia – through its social responsibility program (Corporate Social Responsibilities/CSR) carries out a ceremonial program Organic Waste Management with Bio-Conversion in Tegalrejo District, Yogyakarta City, Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) today (21/9).
The President Director of PT PII, M. Wahid Sutopo in his speech stated that PT PII is committed to always providing benefits to the community, both direct benefits from the existence of projects that have been fully supported by PT PII through its mandate, as well as indirect benefits that we carry out through CSR activities. Corporate Social Responsibility.
“The CSR Program for Organic Waste Management with Bio-Conversion Cage Maggot Yogyakarta in partnership with the Winangun Asri/FKWA Communication Forum and is a collaboration with the DIY Regional Government is a form of PT PII's concern in supporting the sustainability of organic waste processing in DIY Province, especially in Yogyakarta City. This program is carried out by maximizing organic waste management from upstream, namely household waste through Bio-Conversion, maggot cultivation, and later downstream, by reducing the amount of organic waste disposed of in the Piyungan TPAS,” said Sutopo.
Furthermore, Sutopo stated that this program is expected to provide a solution to the waste problem in the DIY Province, especially in Yogyakarta City, namely piles of organic waste so that it can be processed as much as 1 to 2 tons per day and also to create a community business pattern made from organic waste that is independent and sustainable. to create an integrated agricultural business pattern with derivative production from the results of Bio-Conversion processing.
"It is hoped that this upstream organic waste processing program can also become a sustainable program and become a model in other regions in Indonesia so that this waste problem can be resolved and even provide economic value for the community in the future," concluded Sutopo.
For information, this program also supports the economic productivity of the surrounding community, especially in the city of Yogyakarta where the sale of the results of organic waste processing can generate income (revenue) to finance the operations of processing organic waste upstream in a sustainable manner, as well as incentives from fish and chicken cultivation with utilization of maggot as organic feed so as to reduce feed costs by 40-60%.
Currently, apart from Yogyakarta, this program has also been duplicated by PT PII together with KKN-UGM in Southeast Maluku CSR Program. In addition, this CSR program has received appreciation in the Environmental and Social Innovation Awards by receiving a Gold award in the Social Innovation category which is the result of the implementation of the CSR program for Organic Waste Management with Bio-Conversion through Maggot Cultivation in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY). This proves that this program is truly a social innovation program that provides added value and benefits for the community.
