Special Economic Zone - Mandalika

The Mandalika SEZ Tourism Area Development Project is part of Indonesia's tourism development program. This program includes the development of basic infrastructure (basic infrastructure). This project is located in Central Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province (NTB) which covers an area of 1,175 Ha. This project aims to provide sustainable basic infrastructure for the development of new tourist destinations in the Mandalika region, Lombok.

Located in the southern part of Lombok Island, the KEK Mandalika was established through Government Regulation Number 52 of 2014 to become a Tourism SEZ. With an area facing the Indian Ocean, KEK Mandalika is expected to accelerate the tourism sector of West Nusa Tenggara Province which is very potential.

KEK Mandalika offers marine tourism with stunning coastal and underwater charm. Mandalika comes from the name of a legendary figure, namely Princess Mandalika, who is known for her beautiful face. Every year, the people of Central Lombok celebrate the Bau Nyale ceremony, which is a ritual looking for sea worms which is believed to be the incarnation of Princess Mandalika. This celebration is a unique culture and attracts both local and international tourists.

Based on the existing potential and advantages, PT Pembangunan Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero), which has developed Nusa Dua Bali, is proposing the formation of the KEK Mandalika. KEK Mandalika has an environmentally sound tourism development concept with the development of tourist objects and tourist attractions that are always oriented towards the preservation of environmental values and quality in the community.
