29 Dec 2017 ROAD SECTOR
The Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to strive to accelerate the development of toll roads in Indonesia through Public Private Partnership (PPP). Massive toll road construction is needed to improve connectivity that makes it smooth and lowers the cost of logistics for goods and services so as to increase Indonesia's competitiveness, as in the Nawacita program of the Government of President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
As one of the National Strategic Projects (PSN), the Probolinggo-Banyuwangi toll road is expected to encourage the smooth flow of goods and people to and from Banyuwangi. The investment value is Rp. 23.39 trillion, will be worked on by PT Jasa Marga Probolinggo-Banyuwangi whose shares are held by PT. Jasa Marga, PT. Waskita Toll Road and PT. Brantas Abipraya.
This toll road aims to reduce the burden on the number of vehicles on the Probolinggo - Banyuwangi arterial route and encourage economic growth in the corridor. It is hoped that this toll road can increase the role of Tanjung Wangi Port in the east of Java Island, so that the export value in the integrated industrial area pioneered by Banyuwangi Regency can increase.
