05 Jun 2026 WASTE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
PT PII demonstrates a strong commitment to environmental stewardship and sustainability through the implementation of Waste-to-Energy (WtE) technology. This technology serves as a key pillar in advancing sustainability principles by integrating circular economy concepts into waste management practices. Through WtE, municipal and industrial waste is no longer regarded merely as refuse but is transformed into valuable resources, such as electricity and thermal energy. In addition to generating renewable energy, this technology contributes significantly to reducing the volume of waste disposed of in landfills.
From a sustainability perspective, WtE offers several strategic benefits. First, it supports the circular economy by converting waste that would otherwise accumulate in landfills into products with economic value. Second, WtE can substantially reduce waste volume through thermal treatment processes, by up to approximately 90%, thereby extending the operational lifespan of final disposal facilities. Third, energy recovery from waste helps reduce dependence on fossil fuels by providing alternative sources of electricity and heat. Furthermore, WtE contributes to greenhouse gas mitigation by reducing methane emissions naturally generated from waste decomposition in landfills, supported by stringent air pollution control and filtration systems that ensure environmental quality and compliance with applicable standards.
